Cost of delivering a baby.

I was just wondering how you pay to have a baby? Does your work cover it? Does it come out of pocket? What about people who really can't afford it? If you're young and live with parents do they have to pay for it? I'm in Australia and just thinking about this again but I've never actually asked anyone... also, how much are you/medical cover?? expecting to pay? Any idea?
