Boyfriend makes me feel dumb

My boyfriend asked to hang out and I said I was busy. I then told him I’m actually free and then he said I’m trying to “act tough” with him and to apologize. All because I told him actually I’m free the day of. He then wanted a forced apology out of me because of it. This kind of makes me be afraid of him because I feel like I don’t know who he is anymore. We’ve been together for a while and the fact that he gets so angry and worked up over this is wild to me. He thinks I’m playing with him when that wasn’t even the case. He also said that I didn’t have any plans and to admit it to him.
