Should I buy her a new purse?

I was in an emergency situation and a family member came to help me with my young children. She put her purse on the ground. I have a puppy that hasn't ever ruined anything yet as our home is kid proof. He ate through the strap of her designer purse. I found the purse she didn't tell me about it. She refused to tell me how much the purse cost I don't carry cash so I couldn't hide money in her things as an apology. She has watched our kids a few times this has never happened before. She says it's her fault for putting her purse on the ground but I think it's my fault it's my home and my pet. We don't have spare money my purse is 9 years old. I feel so guilty as she was ready doing me a favor with watching my kids. I have no idea how much to spend or how to go about finding a replacement since I don't normally buy purses. What do I do? Purses are so individual too so how do I even replace it properly? I'm guessing she won't take my money she never lets me pay her. She's really the best person ever so I don't want to burn bridges.
