Yes. We met when I was 19, he was 25. We dated for about a year, but I had a lot of stuff going on in my life & I was not in a great place mentally. We ended up breaking up & not really speaking for about 3 years. We would check in with each other from time to time, the care for each other was still there, but we honestly both had stuff we needed to work on. I dated 2 guys in between.. one I lived with & was seeing for almost 2 years. He never dated anyone, but he did hook up with a few people. We started talking again a few days before I turned 23. We are married now, with 3 kids & one on the way. In my heart he always felt like “the one that got away”. And it just felt like he was my meant to be. We don’t talk about how many people we hooked up with in those 3 years apart - honestly it doesn’t matter. It’s the past & it was expected with that amount of time. It didn’t change how we feel about each other. I feel like our case is not the norm for most people, but it is possible.
