Breech delivery
I had my baby on July 3rd. I was originally due July 23rd but went in for my 37 week appt at 1:45 and was dilated to a 6. This is my 3rd baby and I have a history of fast dilation and I generally don’t feel a lot for pain so hard to know when I am truly in labor. Because of this my Dr. sent me upstairs to have our baby. I was so excited to meet my baby as we didn’t know the gender! However I was also feeling so emotional knowing my pregnancy was coming to an end earlier than anticipated(other 2 babies were born around 38 weeks so this was about a week earlier then I expected). We got all checked in and monitored contractions for a while, I was having some but they were fairly irregular. The Dr. Finally came in again and broke my water, I was 7 cm then. Contractions then started to ramp up and within an hour it was time to push. We started pushing and were making good progress but then my Dr realized that baby had flipped at some point and was actually in breech position. However he felt I was a good candidate and baby was still moving down with pushes that we could deliver breech. They had to call to the OR team and pediatrician right away to be on deck in the event we needed them. But after about 6 contractions and lots of hard pushing our baby BOY was born! I thought all the hard work was over but then my placenta did not want to deliver, so my doctor had to manually deliver the placenta and remove it in pieces. This was so incredibly painful as I do not do anything for pain relief during labor. But finally it was all over and we’re able to snuggle and enjoy our new sweet baby and introduce him to his big brother and sister!
