No. It’s a serious waste of money otherwise. If the bag has holes or shows serious signs of wear then yes I will buy a new one. Every yr heck no.

No I bought my daughter a Vans custom backpack entering 6th grade, she’s now entering the 8th grade with the same backpack, the $80 was worth it.

No. We buy one when the last one breaks, wears out, or gets a hole. The do it every year if the old one is still serviceable to simply out the old one in a landfill is consumerism at its finest.

I don’t intend to. My parents didn’t for me, and my daughter doesn’t know it’s an option. 
She’s going into 1st grade, and I anticipate having to get a new one for 2nd, only because it’s a character bag & she’ll outgrow the characters.

No, we buy a quality backpack with loads of adjustment options - in an somewhat neutral colour(no characters). Ment to last 1-3 grade, and they will use their kindergarten backpack for trips and such every week when they.are.outdoors. A small contribution to reduce the extreme amount of things that just ends in the landfill.

Honestly we always got like $20/30 book bags from Walmart/kohls/target and at the end of the year we would literally throw the whole bag and everything in it away, then get a new one next year. once we got jobs then we could get the name brand stuff if we wanted it by paying ourselves

Yes, however it is needed every year. It’s always destroyed by the end of the year, sometimes even before the school year ends.

Yes! He gets a new backpack for the fall semester and then a new one for the spring semester. I buy him 5-6 new backpacks a year. As a teacher, I have tons of new backpacks a year as well.
