Out of state custody issues
I really needed to vent about this because I don’t know what I can do to help my brother. He use to be a drug addict and lived a rough life during that time he had multiple different kids with different women, but actually got his life together he’s been working as a paralegal since he got his life together. met a wonderful women she’s in law too that he married they got a house and 2 cars he’s doing amazing compared to how he was a decade ago and he’s starting to be present in his kids lives again and support them any way he can. He’s been trying to see his youngest for 3 years now we suspected the mom was still on drugs, she had moved with his kid out of state everytime they planned a visit he would always make the 12hr trip to them and she would go ghost. Well he finally got to see him this year because her and her other baby daddy split she never said why and we found out due to public court records that it was because there’s a open abuse and neglect case on him but only the other kids are mentioned not my brothers which is odd they all lived together. She also is currently being evicted she was served right before the visit. Her two older kids 12&13 have been in trouble with the juvenile justice system as well for shoplifting. We’ve heard that she leaves them home alone a lot and neighbors complained of the kids jumping out the windows to leave and There’s literally on the Google image street view of her address my 7 year old nephew is climbing out the apartment window. You know it’s bad when google catches the neglect. My brother is going to start calling lawyers as soon as he gets home I recommend he call dcf and request a welfare check and ask them why he wasn’t notified of a neglect and abuse case that’s open when his child is most likely involved. He wants custody but the biggest hurtle I’m finding is he’s out of state even tho the kid was born in the state my brother resides he’s on the birth certificate and the dna test has been done so it’s proven his kid and she took him out of state with out permission I feel like he has to have grounds there. I’m really hoping he calls dcf too even tho he’s worried it will make him look petty or spiteful a 7 year old shouldn’t be unsupervised home alone or climbing out a apartment window.
