ovulation bleeding with negative OPK

Today is CD 14. Been testing with OPKs for a few days now and have not had LH surge yet. Last night I had some random bleeding which I assume is ovulation bleeding, but this mornings OPK was still negative. Any thoughts? Does the bleeding happen before the surge?
