Failed uterine ablation/agonizing pain every month!!
Has anyone had an ablation fail? I had one performed (roughly) 3 years ago for my extremely heavy, long lasting periods following the birth of my daughter (now 6 y/o). Following the ablation, my period cycle didn’t change at all. I had less heavy periods, but still bled and required hygiene products. Almost exactly 1 year later, I experienced the worst agonizing pain in my abdomen, plus black discharge. I went to the ER thinking something was horribly wrong with me. Was told following an ultrasound that i have a fibroid (3cm so not very large), and to follow up with gyno. Since then, every single month is the same. Terrible sharp, stabbing, and cramping pains with some black discharge. Long story short, i’ve gotten 3 opinions and not really any clear help.
If you’ve had a failed ablation, is there anything that has been done to help? I’d prefer to not have a hysterectomy, as I was told they may not be able to go in laparoscopically due to my fibroid. Please I can’t find anyone who has had this happen before who has advise, personally. I tried birth control per my Gyno’s advise to help this. After a year of being on it, it stopped having an affect. I maxed out on the dose and it was discontinued. At least when that did work, I didn’t have AS MUCH pain.
I was advised that the reason I have this much pain is because not all of the lining in my uterus was burned out during the ablation, so the heathy “pouches” of uterus is working normally. The blood is trapped due to the trauma of the rest of the uterus, and the uterus cannot contract the blood out as it should.
