Is TTC with a bf dumb

I want to get married, but I’m also TTC with my boyfriend. Is this dumb? I don’t want to bring up marriage as I want him to do it on his own.. I feel like I should maybe wait for a baby. I honestly care more about what my family thinks, of course I want to do things the right way. But I had a miscarriage and am desperate for my rainbow baby.
