AITA for telling my principal I'm not spending any of my own money on school supplies?
I'm a high school teacher and was the coach for debate. I got let go of the debate coach position because our admin doesn't want any of us teachers working seconds jobs because our main focus needs to be students. So we can't coach clubs and they don't want us having a second Job. I took my list of school supplies to the office and informed my principal of what I need and also that I won't be using any of my personal money for school supplies. I was asked why since it hadn't been a problem in the past and I said since I can only work one job and I have children and student loans I don't have the funds so I'm not spending my hard earned money that I don't have on school supplies. They can tell I'm pissed. I was told that the students are going to be the ones to suffer and I said while that hurts me that won't be my fault. Us teachers aren't REQUIRED to buy school supplies. We do it for our students but some of my income has been taken away. They don't want me working a second job and took my other one. Fine. I'm not spending my own money on school supplies when I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna pay my mortgage. Am I wrong?
@Avery they dropped this new rule about second jobs on us a few months ago. And the classroom budget we get is $50 a semester..... I'll do what I can with that but nothing extra
