Hi Mamas! Opinions please!
I’m 6 weeks postpartum and my husband and I live in Hawaii but our family lives in the states. My MIL came for 3 weeks and cooked/ cleaned to help us out so we could spend more time with our baby. Bless her for being so helpful! My family arrived a week later and is the complete opposite and in full vacation mode and using our house like a hotel. My step mother kissed my baby on the cheek after her flight without me even having a chance to tell them our boundaries( I flipped out ) now they are expecting me to cook everything for them and just pamper them while they go to the beach all day come back and just relax. My dad just gets drunk on our deck and I’ve had nothing but conversations about what he wants to do. What is a respectful yet assertive way to communicate that this is a vulnerable time for my husband and I, and basically our house is not their hotel for vacation. I feel totally disrespected and used.
