I cried today!

I have had a hard year. Me and my wife are getting a divorce.

My homophobic parents rejoiced in our divorce. Before she asked me for a divorce I was going through a miscarriage when we tried to conceive. It's been the worst. I wasn't ready to go back to the classroom but I did. I teach 7th grade and 3 years ago I had a student who had Cancer. He was an amazing kid. It was sad seeing him so sick. He had no hair and was at school less and less until one day he was dropped from my roster. I was worried he passed but his family had pulled him out of school since he was in the hospital so much. I sent an email to check up but never heard from them again.

In my classroom, I heard "Ms. Morales?" And there he was! He's in high school now but stopped by the middle school to say hi! He's cancer-free. He was wearing a beanie and when he took it off his hair was down to his shoulders. He said he's growing it out and may donate his hair one day. He's been in online school and when his parents put him back in in-person school he wanted to see me. So he stopped by the middle school.

With everything that has happened this last year, that made my day. Honestly made my entire month!
