Nightmares in kids

Rachel

Kids have nightmares usually not a big deal. My son for the last week has had a nightmare every night. Within an hour or two of going to bed no matter the time, after he will sleep the rest of the night with out issue. He wakes up hard crying and will get out of bed and pace the living room. It’s very creepy to watch. We try and talk to him but nothing like he’s still asleep. The only thing his dad found that works weirdly enough is math he’ll start asking him math problems and our son will respond and slowly wake up. He never remembers what the nightmares are about though. Which is the part I’m getting frustrated on. Outside of doing a whole technology cleanse I can’t think of anything specific he’s been watching that’s “scary” iv checked all the games he plays everything seems age appropriate enough. We had a baby 3 weeks ago so maybe it’s linked to that but I also feel it would have started when we brought her home them. I really can’t figure it out. All I know is the other night I couldn’t get the baby down till 4:30 am after she got up at 3am and then at 4:50 my son is up having an episode. Same with the night before I’m up at 1am taking an hour to clean/feed the baby and before I can finish my son is up having an episode. Our schedule has been crazy since having the baby and yes he’s been going to bed very late, which isn’t new for him his dad gets home at strange hours and he’s always waited up for him. That’s the other issue is sometimes it’s the middle of the night and my husband isn’t home and I got both of them crying. Neither my husband or I are going to bed any sleep if this continues but I really don’t know how to help him.

Any suggestions are always appreciated, thanks in advance.
