What is your recommendation for birth control pills??

Hi! So I plan to go to the doctor next week because it's time for me to start taking birth control. I've never been on birth control before so I'm a little clueless but my question is which pill do you women prefer and why? Also, I know getting a shot is an option but I heard it makes you gain hella weight so I'm not getting that. But also how is the patch??

There really isn't a preference to which pills you like, it's more of which pill can you tolerate. The doctor will likely try you out on a moderate estrogen/progestin combo pill and see how well you do. They will also ask you some health questions and take some vitals to see how to approach which pill to give you.

Then it's mainly seeing how your body reacts to the pill. Just watch for the signs of needing a pill change: mood swings, heavy or non stop breakthrough bleeding, weight gain, breast tenderness, etc. You just need to see which pill works for your body.

And I agree w staying away from the shot. It's notorious for weight gain. As for the patch, see which pill works for you first. Then based on that, you can see if the hormone combo in the patch will work for you.
