How do you handle a parent in law that doesn’t like you??

I always thought my father in law liked me until the last few years where he’s made some demeaning comments about me, my personality, my parenting, and has clearly chosen favorites. It’s blatantly obvious my husband is not the favorite which always leaves our family feeling left out and very small. It’s now kind of all come to light due to recent events he truly isn’t fond of us. Even down to the fact he responds/comments on almost every picture of one grandkid (not our child) but not the others (our kids). The favoritism has even been noticed by my family. It’s been building for awhile but I am just so upset and hurt it’s come to this.
