i come from a polynesian family, and not to say no one else does this but we’re very big on namesakes.. im having a girl in november and in honor of my mom i wanted to name my first daughter after her. My mom doesnt have any namesakes none of my sisters & i are named after her and not even any of her grandkids. i always had my heart set on naming my first daughter after my mom. However… now i find myself going back and forth with my babys name. My husband is Mexican so i kinda wanted it to be a name easy enough for his family to pronounce.. But at the same time as a polynesian and with me having a extra ordinary kind of first name i always felt that my name is everything to me and people should learn to pronounce it as i take the time to learn others. if my babys first name isnt the same as my moms i would most likely use it as her middle name. but like i said i go back and forth because although a middle name is just as special it wouldnt be her first name everyone calls her by. Just wanna know how you moms feel when it comes to names.
