Sister Advice Needed
Hi there!
I’m a first time mom to 12 month old. I’ve only recently been having play dates with my older sister and her kids (5 months old and almost 3). Admittedly I’m new to this whole thing and just want to get some advice.
My baby of course has Velcro hands at this age and is very curious about what his older cousin plays with. We’re often playing at their house and it’s of course all of my nephew’s toys when we come over. There have been a couple instances today alone where my nephew gets upset that my baby grabs his toy. He screams in his face and almost hit him… twice. Each time I’ve gotten involved. The first time I said, *childs name* please don’t scream at your cousin. The second time when he poked my kids throat I just said “hey, hey, hey” and got my kid away.
My sister is pissed that I’m getting involved. She said not to do that because “it scares a toddler.” I was certainly not aggressive or screaming, but want to establish some boundaries. I do not want him hitting my kid.
I can see this causing an issue with my sister down the line. Moms who have more experience with this, can you tell me if I’m expecting too much here? Am I valid? What would y’all do? Thank you
