period concerns

So I've always had irregular periods since i started in 7th grade. I'm now 19 and haven't had a period in 2 and a half years. I went to a gyno about a year ago and she didn't even exam me or anything since i've never had sex. she wasn't really concerned just told me to lose a few pounds a recommended birth control. I ended up not getting in the birth control tho. Flash forward to now, i've changed my eating habits and lost about 15 pounds so far and all of a sudden today i started having brownish/reddish discharge like i would at the ending of a period. i've been cramping leading up to today but i'm not really bleeding. i'm kinda freaking out and don't really know if this is even a period or not.
