Me and my bf are in our mid twenties have known each other for 6 years and we still do and have joked around calling each other names in a playful way like “dumb” and “fat” but we don’t take it to heart because we are openly joking and we both say it to each other.

but recently we have been arguing a lot and he has started to name call me things like moron, my thought process is dumb, and a few other things. I’m starting to feel like it’s my fault for provoking little arguments into big ones.im not a saint either i have called him dumb and annoying while being upset but haven’t gone further than that is there a way to solve this?
