Emotional after breastfeeding

Hi! I was wondering if crying after each nursing session is normal? My SIL is a ftm with a one week old and cries after each time. I know there are hormones and all the crazy things happening, but i wanted to know if it's common or something to keep an eye of for ppd. My baby is over 5 now so I don't remember well, so i figured is ask around here and see if anyone else has experienced this! Thanks so much!!

Well, I didn’t cry but I felt very emotional and irritated everytime during a let down. So I would try to distract myself by watching something to talking to someone. Breastfeeding comes with lots of hormones. I think she needs to speak to her doctor now do it does lead to ppd.

That’s how I many days. Not every time, but a time or two a day. It’s the most physically and emotionally draining job I have ever had. It gets better after about 6 weeks. It will still be a very emotional thing though.

It could be Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex (D-MER) - I didn’t have this but I’ve seen instagram videos about it. I can’t speak from experience but just something to be educated on.

At one week post partum that seems very normal. The hormones are all over the place still. It’s normal to have some baby blues as well. if it continues after 6 weeks, that’s a sign it could be something more like PPD.
