How to prepare the kids for court?
Hey all!
I was looking for advice, specially from other foster parents but everyone is opened to offer. Me and my husband have been foster parents a full year now. We are helped reunite 7 families. We currently are fostering two siblings and this one is extremely sad because their parents are going to prison for severe child abuse. The brother is 13 and the sister is 9. The case has made it to trial and the kids have to testify against their parents. The brother is most likely going to be up there the most because for the sister she is just testifying against physical abuse. The brother has to testify against his father for sexual abuse along with 3 other boys from their church. Mom is looking at 15-25 years. Dad is looking at 30-40. It's extremely traumatic. Court is tomorrow. I just want to know how to prepare them and should I take them out to eat after or would that be weird? I was told by the caseworker they would most likely have a therapy dog there to help. I would love any advice.
