Do contraceptive pills prevent implantation ?

Does anyone know if the contraceptives stop a fertilised egg from implanting?  
I read that they don’t cause an abortion. Yet other places said they stop implantation of a fertilised egg. So am a little confused. Do they prevent a pregnancy that has occurred but hasn’t yet implanted or do they strictly prevent fertilisation of an egg?

If I’m not mistaken, the pill should stop ovulation depending on what brand you use. No egg=nothing to be fertilized=no pregnancy

I believe the only type of emergency contraception besides plan B are hormonal IUDs (and not all of them), and the pill does not work as an emergency contraception aka preventing implantation of an already fertilized egg. As mentioned already the pill suppresses ovulation and the release of enough estrogen to spike ovulation from happening.
