Ectopic Pregnancy
I found out I was pregnant September 3rd and I was having spotting so I went to the doctor to make sure everything was fine. I got blood work done to check my HCG and progesterone levels. My Progesterone was a 6.60 and my HCG was a 220 so I had to go back in 48 hours to do a redraw on my blood. I got my blood done again and it was at 265 and my doctor was concerned that it hadn’t doubled. I had to get another tests and it was at 447 the doctor said that my numbers weren’t going up like they should and I was still having bleeding. On September 12 I called and said I was still having bleeding so they told to come in. They did a full work up and I got a vaginal ultrasound since I was 6 weeks at the time. The saw the fetus on my left ovary so they told me to come back in the next day September 13 to get methotrexate shot to help get rid of the cells so I wouldn’t have to have surgery since I wasn’t having any pain just light bleeding. My numbers started going down. September 28th I started having bleeding like I was on my period but no pain. I thought that it was odd since my numbers weren’t all the way down. On October 1st I was at work and I was still bleeding and I got a random sharp pain in my pelvis and I thought maybe I’m just bloated or sometimes when I drink coffee on an empty stomach my stomach may hurt a bit. Around 11:30 am that day I started having excruciating pain in my pelvis and on my left side I was in tears. I called my doctor office and they told me to go to the ER. I called my husband and told him what was going on and my friend from work drove me to the closets hospital. They sent me back immediately when I told them I have an Ectopic Pregnancy. They took my blood, made me pee in a cup, and then sent me off for ultrasound. The ER doctor came back to my triage room and told me that I had bleeding and that they called OB and got me a surgeon to clean everything up. An hour or so later the OB Surgeon came and talked to me and told me I had internal bleeding in my pelvis and that he had to do a D&C and he was going to try and not remove my left tube but if it was worse when he went in to clean up everything than he would have too. About 2-3 hours after that I was being taken to the operating room and getting prepped for surgery. I woke up in the recovery room and was told that they had to remove my left ovary because where the fetus was they couldn’t get to it and my ovary was messed up really bad and that they had taken out endometriosis which I didn’t know I had endometriosis. Today is October 2nd and I am very sore and don’t really know how I feel about everything. It’s been a rough couple of weeks. I guess I’m just going through the motions and kind of feel numb to everything.
