Re-watching Grey's Anatomy and damn is the new stuff exceptionally bad!

Jess

Any long-time Grey's fans in here? I've been watching since about 2009, and after certain characters died or left, it fell flat for me. Since about 2017, I just wait until the new season comes out and binge that. Since the pandemic, it's gone from bad to worse. Season 20 was absolute garbage.

Anyone else feel like the new stuff is just lack-luster? What the hell happened to Bailey's character? What happened to the tough love that now only comes out when she needs to be the token black woman with sass? Webber is once again thinking about retiring, which is an old plotline that resurfaces periodically and now feels cheap. Boy who cried wolf much?

The writing is no longer unique and feels scripted. It also feels idyllic, with no ethical or moral dilemmas anymore. There's no creativity. This is especially punctuated with characters all speaking the same way and displaying the exact same speaking patterns and mannerisms.

The patient cases and "heartfelt scenarios" come off as PSAs; abortion? The whole COVID arc? Treating dental issues promptly to avoid serious complications (and a cardio doctor somehow missed this?)

This show was wonderful almost 20 years ago. Why didn't it end?!
