*I know people will say to leave and I am, but helping me understand helps me to move on, I think*

My boyfriend will talk about breaking up sometimes. He’s done it throughout our relationship. But I notice that anytime I just say “okay” and/or agree with splitting up, he backpedals from the idea. Like one time he was talking about it and for a little I tried to communicate through stuff but then I just said “okay well I’ll give you your stuff back and we’ll be done” then it was “why would I want that?” “I never said it was done”. Yesterday he talked about splitting up and I said “okay we’ll take a break then. Is that what you want?” And he said “I guess not”. And even when we do breakup, he still talks to me the whole time - asks what I’m doing and who I’m with and he’ll tell me how he doesn’t want to see me with other people. I remember last year when he did it to me one time, I broke things off instead when he said it and I remember he was upset about it. So it makes me think maybe he just talks about breaking up so that I’ll be like “oh no, don’t do that” 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ idk.
