Do endoscopies hurt?

I finally saw my GI and he wants to do an endoscopy to look at my ulcer. I’m really, really nervous about it. I know I’m going to be put under for it but I’ve never even had surgery before and I’m just scared that I’m going to feel pain after.

No pain for me, I’ve had 2 endo and 2 colonoscopy. The prep sucks for them but no pain

I’ve had a handful of endoscopies in the last decade; they’re not too awful. It should be outpatient and the procedure itself is only 10-ish minutes a lot of the time. Most of my time was spent in recovery coming around. I had some jaw soreness after and the most horrendous cotton mouth (I have a naturally dry mouth too 😅) for a few days but that was really the worst of it. You could possibly have some other upper gi discomfort or be a little gassy but don’t stress too hard!
