Period and BC

Should I be bleeding while I'm on BC. I'm on the green pills which my doctor told me are the "period pills." Im assuming these are what people keep referring to as placebo pills.. Or dummy pills. I didn't know I was supposed to still bleed on them, so does this mean I could get pregnant? Also, is this normal and supposed to happen
