How do we feel about the Opill?

Lizzy

Hi! I’m new to this app and I have some questions. So I just recently decided to try the Opill. I would rather go to the doctor and get it prescribed, but my parents are very against me getting on birth control bc it is a hormone and could potentially have side effects AND I have a boyfriend now and they don’t want me to use it as an excuse to have sex. I just want to get on it because my periods are so irregular and my cramping is so bad most of the time. I am 19 years old and I still live with my parents. I know that my irregular periods are mainly just stress because I am an EMT and I work 24 hour shifts and my parents stress me out as well over little stuff (for the record they are not abusive, never have been, they just think that cause I live at home that my business is their business…mainly my dad) I have thought about other forms of birth control like the IUD or something like that but I am a little nervous about it. The one time I went to the gynecologist it was borderline traumatic for me and they didn’t listen to my complains. I just want to hear y’all’s thoughts on this matter. 🩷
