Babyis here-birth story
My original due date was Dec 2 2024!
Me and my bf had intercourse on Nov 23, right after I had bleeding, but didn’t think anything of it as my midwife said it was normal.
A few hours later, I started having some occasional back pain that was on and off through the night. For the next few days, mostly in the evenings and night, I would get these back pains again (didn’t think anything of it) as I was supposed to be getting a sweep done in Nov 27.
On the night of the 25, the back pain increased, so I started timing them as contractions (not knowing if they were or not) and they would last a few hours and subside, but periodically wake me.
The evening of Nov 26 comes around and I was feeling the same back pains around 930, they didn’t feel like contractions to me, as the pain was prominent in my lower back. Around 11pm I went to go pee and noticed I was again bleeding, so I held off and went back to bed, 1am comes around and the pain had picked up and coming closer together (I thought 5 minutes apart, as I was timing them) so I left the bf know I was bleeding and having pain, and he wanted me to try to hold off until morning so we could take his son to his grandmothers (I thought I could wait as I had been having the pain for a few days and had a sweep later that day)
3am rolls around, and I couldn’t take the pain, to the point I was moaning and clutching the pillow, so bf calls his grandmother and lets her know we will prob be dropping his son off in the next few hours, and she said it’d be best to call the midwife just incase.
So I called the midwife and she basically said everything I’m experiencing is normal and I’m probably in early labor but she will come check me within the hour. 4am comes around and she checks me and says the pain (contractions) I’m feeling are more like 2-3 minutes apart and I am about 8cm with bulging membranes (by now I’m kinda in shock cuz I had planned to go natural, but in the days prior was kinda telling myself I’ll get the epidural)
5am we get to the hospital and I opted out of the epidural since the pain wasn’t too bad, I was just having pressure and was bas pushing the whole drive to the hospital (30 mins- bf made it in 15)
630/7 rolls around and she breaks my water, baby didn’t wanna comes down while pushing so she had me get on all 4s, after a while, with no luck, and my horrendous screaming, she gave me laughing gas and oxytocin, as my contractions were spacing out, I begged for the epidural as the pressure was intense and we wernt getting anywhere, she offered to go in and manually rotate baby as he was facing the wrong way (which is why he wouldn’t come down) i said not a chance (i should have let her tho lol) unfortunately due to how close I was to delivering, the anaesthesiologist wouldn’t give me one. So midwife consults the ob and he basically said he will freeze my prenium and use the vacuum, so I agreed, still no luck, so I ended up getting an episiotomy on top of the vacuum, and baby boy was born at 8:58am on Nov 27 2024.
A week later, I don’t recall the pain now, but I swore to myself I’d never do it again, it was such a fast, crazy experience, but I’m glad it’s over with and I have my baby in my arms, born at 39+2
