UTI at 10 weeks pregnant 😢

Last week or so I experienced some pressure in my bladder, cloudy urine, and a strong smell. My doctor prescribed me nitrofurantoin and I had just a day left to compete this medication for my UTI.

My results came back in today and turns out that antibiotic will not kill the bacteria that is causing my UTI as effectively. I am now being told to stop this medication and start another antibiotic called sulfameth/trimethoprim for 3 days, twice a day. I searched if it is safe for pregnant women to take this antibiotic and it says that it is not recommended for pregnant women especially in the first trimester. I’m just scared that this will harm my baby and wanted to know if anyone has been prescribed this for a UTI while pregnant? Is it safe?
