Cramping on cycle day 24

I’m on cycle day 24, expecting my period in 5 days. Today I woke up with some cramping on my right side that’s been pretty persistent. When I search google it suggests that 1) it could be implantation 2) I could be ovulating.

There’s is about a 1% change it could be implantation based on when my husband and I last did the deed (December 2). I also don’t believe it could be ovulation because I tracked it this month and ovulated on December 9. Does anyone else know what the cramping may be from?

Last month my period was horrible. On day 2 I was bleeding so much I would go through a pad/tampon in an hour. No other symptoms though.

Any advice is appreciated ! I have an appt with a specialist but not til January 30th.
