TTC after miscarriage

I had my first period after my miscarriage and it was shorter and lighter than my usual periods, as well as not consistent (spotting, then bleeding, no bleeding, spotting/bleeding again, etc). I was wondering if you personally would wait until a more normal period before trying to conceive again? My doctor said when I miscarried I could technically try any time, but they prefer after a cycle. I’m just not sure because it wasn’t normal for me. Thanks in advance!
