Am I confused? Or should I be mad?

Soo me and my husband have been trying for a baby for 5 years now and that we did try clomid like a year ago. Well when they put me on those they put me on a medication called provera that regulates my period and helps us pin point when to take the clomid and we did a few rounds and nothing was happening so they took us off of it and we just decided to take a break from any interventions, well he never took me off provera and I was reading into it yesterday and it said that if you take it for a prolonged amount of time it acts like a birth control and stops you from ovulating and it thins your uterine lining too much for an egg to attach (if you ovulated). So I've been on this medication for over a year now and I've gone through so much heart ache and frustration just to figure out I've pretty much been on birth control without my knowledge, they never told me that it does that.
