Anyone scared of delivery??

I am literally terrified to deliver my baby. The thought of it just gives me so much anxiety. This will be my first baby and delivery. I know everyone has to go through it so that is the only thing that makes me feel like I can do it. But everyone’s story is all so different. Anyone doing anything ny specific to prepare mentally and physically for delivering there baby? Do you plan to deliver natural or with epidural?? I have no idea what to expect
Ps I am only 13 weeks but everyday i am reminded that I am getting slowly closer and closer to my due date

It’s as peaceful or as traumatic as you make it. There are therapists who specialize in birth anxiety you can speak with. It’s ultimately your body and your experience to go through, if you have a high pain tolerance, a supportive partner, a low risk pregnancy maybe unmedicated is for you. If you’d rather be able to relax through labor and not feel as much. Maybe meds are for you. If your partner isn’t good with potentially stressful situations, maybe they shouldn’t be there. If you’re high risk, maybe a c-section is an option. The most important things you can do is prepare to communicate your wishes, ask questions as they come up, and keep support around you who will advocate for you.

Watch positive birth videos. Educate yourself. Do your research. Take care of your health as well. I was very afraid with my first pregnancy. I chose to go without epidural for all 3 pregnancies. My reason being i wanted as much control as possible. Didn’t want to feel trapped to a bed. I wanted to be able to walk around and feel what Im doing. The pain was great but also bearable. Immediately after pushing the great pain was gone. The only pain was soreness the following days. Equivalent to a heavy workout.  I was able to walk around and put my baby in and out of her bed right after. Go to the bathroom, etc. I’ve done it the same way every time. No regrets at all. No fears at all. It is one of those things where sometimes things can be out of your control. But pray if you do and always have faith for the best outcome. I also agree that therapy is always a good option.

Omg YESSSS. With my first I was TERRIFIED.  I watched so many birth videos and so much reasearch, to the point that i was desensitized to it some.  And my first birth went smoothly!  Ive had 3 c sections since, and plenty has gone wrong, but none of them would i have chosen to skip. Having that baby, c section, vaginal, epidural or not, is everything. By the end of pregnancy, most women are so uncomfortable that theyre ready for labor to happen already to get meet that baby and be done being pregnant lmao.

It's natural to feel scared. There is no one answer that fits all. It depends on the person and what exactly causes your anxiety. For me it was not knowing how labor/delivery would go, so I read up on birth and learned everything I could prior to the delivery, which helped immensely. For my husband, it was safety. So he made sure we delivered at a hospital he was comfortable with and regularly had me/him call the nurse hotline when i was in early labor to make sure I was safe. For others, it's the pain of childbirth. If that's the case, i would recommend taking a birthing class focused on non-medicated coping mechanisms. Even if you know you want the epidural, the epidural isnt administered until well after you go into labor, so knowing effective coping mechanisms would still be useful.

I had a friend that just gave birth all natural about 9 months ago. She said it was hard but amazing. I’ve gave birth twice and this will be my third- I’m 12 weeks along. Both births so far I opted for epidural and even though it’s not the best feeling getting it. 12/10 will be getting one again. First birth went fine vaginally. Doctors & nurses made it absolutely amazing. 
Second birth I have some ptsd from and had an emergency c section from a prolapsed cord. I also had polyhydramnios which was a contributing factor to that. 
Every single birth is different however having a support system in place and a doctor/ nurses you trust helps a TON. It’s natural to feel anxious, worrisome about giving birth but our bodies were made to do this.

Have had 3 babies, no pain meds, 3 amazing and easy labor and deliveries with very little pain. Best thing for me is to go in with the mindset I 100% can do this easily and know of things change I can change as need be. A super strict birth plan was a no for me because I didn't wanna lock myself into a place of this needs to happen or I'll be disappointed. Birth plan was healthy baby and healthy mom...its just worked out with 3 amazingly easy and painless natural births. You can totally do it and by the time you get close you've been feeling them move and kick amd seen their little face on ultrasound and you wanna meet them no matter what and delivery isnt as scary but more a ends to a mean of meeting that amazing little human.
