I just turned 19 a couple months ago and just completed my first semester of college with a 3.4 gpa. It’s the last week of my winter break and I decided to go to the orthodontist to see how much Invisalign would cost because growing up my parents refused to let me get any work done. my mom told me “messed up teeth builds character.” I wanted to treat myself to something. Neither of my parent’s insurance covered anything and my treatment plan cost is $5000. I have some money saved up but not that much as I was hoping to be able to finance it with the money I had saved (refund checks too) until I got a job and new car after my spring semester. my mom offered to pay $1000 towards it but now I’m questioning if I should do it. Should I spend my money on a new car then worry about the Invisalign later? My goals for 2025 were to get a new car and fix my teeth but i’m just not sure what to do now.
