What makes a woman a whore or a slut?

Various of times I've read on here some women saying that sex is not what makes you a whore or a slut. I'm just confused since all my life I was taught the contrary and I'm just posting this here to learn. So if sex with a large number of men doesn't make women a whore or slut, then what does?
