I'm so upset I've been crying continuously. I have been a cat owner all my adult life. I recently adopted a puppy a cavie. He's ten months old and I absolutely consider him a beloved member of our family.

He was neutered and had to wear a cone. His ears although I trimmed them prior got matted with the cone rubbing his face. I tried to cut the matted portion and ended up slicing a chunk of his ear.

I was mortified embarrassed and terrified about what would happen to my ten month old puppy and that I caused him harm. He's currently under sedation at the vet they had to shave his head and they had to crimp his ear and give him stitches. Apparently I knicked his other ear and didn't know either so stitches on that ear too.

Normally I wouldn't have tried to cut the hair but he couldn't see a groomer for a couple more weeks with just being neutered and I was trying to help his discomfort from the matting.

I'm literally throwing up because of how much pain I've caused him. I don't want to bring him home. I cannot begin to think he loves me unconditionally and I hurt him. We have three kids and two cats and I've never ever hurt anyone of them.

I'm so upset my intentions were to help him and I caused him so much harm and a vet bill of 1k that had to put on my credit card. I feel like I don't deserve my dog and if I hurt him like this what could happen to him with minor things that I do.

I love him so much I think I need to find him a better home.
