Breastfeeding hurt ?

Does breastfeeding really hurt  that bad . I want to but they say it’s not easy so now I’m kinda afraid to even try .

Knowledge is key here -read up on everything breastfeeding, take a breastfeeding class. No it typically shouldn't hurt, but its a learning process for you both at first. Like getting used to new shoes. There's things like ties that can make it uncomfortable and painful, but it can be fixed so having a good LC or preferably an IBCLC to talk to is important.

Breastfeeding did hurt a bit the first couple times, but it wasn’t that bad, it was more like a new, kind of uncomfortable feeling, and surprise as I didn’t expect my baby to be that strong already. Your experience will all depend on how well baby latches and the support you can get to learn. The midwives helped me a lot!
There are so many benefits to breastfeeding that it’s definitely worth trying. I breastfed till my baby was 20 months old and I have no regrets. Just take it easy, try to learn how to do it a little bit beforehand and see how it goes :)
And don’t pressure yourself if you find it hard, it’s totally normal at first and it takes a bit of time to get used to it. It’s also fine if you realize that it may not be for you, as long as baby is fed, breastfeeding or formula, everything will be okay :)

It’s not supposed to hurt. Yes an adjustment period in the beginning and yes that can hurt but it should be short lived. With my first it was very painful every time the whole 5 weeks I breastfed (I ended up on a medication, had to pump and dump, then emergent surgery at 7 weeks pp). She wouldn’t latch after so we pumped until she was 1 and it worked. I was very nervous having my second remembering the pain. It was then I realized that breastfeeding wasn’t supposed to hurt and something hadn’t gone right with my first. Tongue ties are common and a reason for pain. Bad latches. Sometimes you can correct the issue, sometimes you have to find another way to make it work.

I had my first in May and I did breast feeding up until supply started lowering but he still breast feeds it’s definitely not easy for many but if it bothers you do what’s best for you it’s not for everyone also nipple guards works wonders with less pain you can also use if you decide to breast feed

Painful at first mainly due to it causing crazy cramping but that’s actually a good thing as it’s a healing process. I tried breast feeding but just couldn’t get a good latch with my daughter so I stuck to pumping which I much prefer honestly m, it’s a strange feeling but not painful once you get through the cramping. It only hurts if baby doesn’t latch on correctly or your nipples chafe but it’s really not painful once you try it and get the hang of it

My first hurt really bad. She had pretty intense lip and tongue ties but we worked around it and I was able to breastfeed for about 6 months and then switched to exclusively pumping. My 2nd has no issues and besides just needing my nipples to “toughen up” for the first few days I have had 0 pain with feeding her.

The first couple of weeks with my first was very painful. But we hit the two week mark, and it’s like a switch flipped and it no longer hurt. It was much less painful starting out with subsequent babies. It’s absolutely worth it, but you have to be mentally prepared to struggle at first. You and baby are both learning. Seeking help from professionals like an IBCLC is super helpful.
