Bad Breath

This is a bit embarrassing but yesterday my husband of three years said that I have a “natural scent from my breath that’s off-putting”. He also said “sometimes when you try to kiss me I turn away because i am not interested”. I had to get it out of him to say all of this. Mind you I think i have good dental hygiene and take care of myself well. I brush multiple times a day, floss and use mouthwash. He apparently smelled it the first time we kissed. I am so embarrassed and not sure if I can kiss him again. Am I overthinking/overreacting? How do I get over this? I will of course go to the dentists to ensure there’s nothing going on but I wish he had told me sooner or at least been a bit more gentle
