Maybe someone on here can help? My dad is in a nursing home and they called public health on me?!

Question

My dad has been in a nursing home for five years because he had a stroke and can't look after himself. He and my mom are divorced and have been for over 20 years.
His nursing home will put him in isolation even when he's not sick. I told them they can't do that and they have no reason. They say because his roommate has COVID or someone he's close with has flu so he's isolated too. I said no he's not. They argue with me but I tell them resident's rights! RIGHT TO REFUSE IS RIGHT THERE! I refuse to let him be isolate!!!
I refuse to let him be isolated when he's not sick so I take him around the floor and take him to activities but they make me leave. I called the ministry in Ontario and they were no help. 
The nursing home told me if I don't like it I can take him home essentially. He's been isolated unnecessarily three times since October and he got sick ONCE WHILE HE WAS ALREADY ISOLATED SO HE WAS ISOLATED EVEN LONGER!!!
I tore down his signs and threw out their stupid thing they put on the door with their Hazmat suits the last time I visited and the nursing home called Public Health on me and they came in and talked to me. I got a warning from the police.
Is this anyway to treat people?! He wasn't even sick. His roommate was! Why does he have to suffer?! They called the freaking police. This is the way nursing homes are but I can't take care of him myself. What am I supposed to do?!
I'm going to try and take him home but I have to move to a house that doesn't have stairs and can get all the stuff to help him. It's also so expensive to hire help but maybe there's disability or something for him.
Edit: But I'm not in the wrong for speaking up for him? He can't. He is suffering in his room alone. They have people come to visit but why isolate him if you're going to have people visit anyway? What's the point?! All I'm saying is they put these rules in place and expect us to blindly follow them. They don't realize we can think for ourselves. We aren't all indoctrinated. And they don't even explain the science or show any evidence that this works they just call the police when you don't follow their rules. Make it make sense!

I've worked in care homes all my adult life. It's people like you that make the job insufferable, honestly. Yes, your relative has rights, however if home policy is that he needs to isolate due to being in contact with someone who is contagious, then that's what needs to be done to stop the spread. Can you imagine allowing your relative to be carrying Covid, flu, norovirus etc, and socialising with other residents and it spreads through the home like wild fire because you're too wrapped up in yourself to think of the consequences. What about if someone else is sick and doesn't isolate, then your relative catches it and has complications from catching it? Because I can tell you, you would be the first to put in a complaint and probably take it further should anything happen to YOUR relative but you have no compassion for other residents or their families. It's not one rule for you and another for everyone else, it's the same rules for everyone to keep ALL residents safe. You have an absolutely disgusting entitled attitude.

Seriously? The nursing home did the right thing. You’re an idiot. If he was exposed he should absolutely isolate. That’s how they keep the entire place from becoming sick. If one of my kids get sick and stays home from school, the others do too. Because if one has it, there’s a good chance they all do, and I’m not sending my families germs into the wild. How incredibly selfish you are to think the way you do, especially when one illness could literally kill a nursing home resident. Good for the nursing home. Ur attitude is terrible to say the least.. the rules are not punishment.. they are there for a reason.. it's peak season right now for flu.. viruses and u are putting not only ur dad at risk by taking him out but others in the building.. sure go ahead take him home but it's not in his best interests.. and btw ur saying what u want for him.. but what about what ur dad want's? Viruses have an incubation period where a person may have contracted a virus by being in close proximity to someone who was sick, and during that incubation period it's possible theyre contagious and can spread it to others, but it takes a good 3-5 days for actual symptoms to appear. Because the facility is for vulnerable adults, it makes sense that they need to quarantine someone for a few days after theyve been sharing a close space with someone who was sick in order to contain the virus. There are likely people at that facility who are very frail and immunocompromised to where even a simple virus could be fatal, so they need to do their due diligence to stop the spread of viruses even for people who dont yet have symptoms but were exposed and may be incubation-contagious. While I understand you have his best interest at heart, their policy makes sense and your behavior is out of line. Im not sure what you do for a living but Ive heard in some states they can actually pay you to be a full time caregiver for your family member, or you can get x number of hours of private in home help paid by medicare. Youd need to research it though, maybe call medicare or a senior service care type of place, near me theres a place called Senior Options that help with situations like this. Good luck dear, watching our parents age really sucks.

You are risking your dad’s and other patients lives because you don’t understand exposure and incubation periods. The flu, rsv, and other viruses are in peak season and can be deadly for the elderly/immunocompromised. 
Do your research. Gain some knowledge. Have some respect. Make better choices.

I hope he’s not in the same home my grandma is at, because if you were to be on your mighty high horse, bringing him around to activities and got her sick when he SHOULD have been isolated, I’d be livid.

Why are you even questioning this? You are in the wrong. Period. 
People in nursing homes are incredibly vulnerable to disease. It can spread quickly. We saw that with COVID. We see it yearly with the flu. Isolating people who have had contact with someone who is ill is very smart. It means that if those contacts are incubating and contagious, they've hopefully stopped the spread at the contact level, meaning it doesn't go beyond the sick person and the people that they have had contact with.
Check yourself. Your behavior is disgusting at best and dangerous at worst.
