is monistat3 working? is this a normal experience?

Okay i am an extremely paranoid person. i can easily convince myself my symptoms are more extreme than they are.

Well, ive been having a super itchy situation around my clit, white, clumpy discharge and a bit of an odor. I’ve never had any of this happen before so i talked to my mom and she said it sounds like a yeast infection and to pick up monistat 3. i get the monistat 3, come home last night and do the process of application.. HOLY MOLY, it starts to itch so so so bad. about an hour of the most obnoxious itch, it subsides, and i go to sleep.

So here i am after that experience, is it working? i’m still a bit itchy this morning and it still looks a bit red and inflamed. Does this sound like a normal experience and reaction with monistat3 or does it sound to be something more (an STD/STI)? ik not to take medical advice from the internet but i just would appreciate some advice or personal experiences..?
