is he lying to me or just not interested anymore

so I’ve been talking to this guy for about a week now and I don’t know what to do because he’s clearly not over his ex and we’ve been talking about it and he says like he’s not exactly ready for a relationship because he’s not over his ex, but he’s been telling other people that he was gonna like wanna lock it in with me but that hasn’t been happening and I’ve been hearing other things from my friends his friends just other people who are associated with it all and I just don’t know what to do because he is always saying he’s not ready for a relationship and he tells his friends that he doesn’t want one but then when he text me, he’s always like oh yes, I like you I want this to go somewhere so I’m just confused if he’s lying to me or he’s just not interested in making up things so he could get out of the situation should I end it and forget about it or should I keep going with the relationship?

just wanted to come on here and ask some other opinions because I’ve had opinions but I want some other ones thanks !
