Natural black hair

I need pretty hairstyles for black teens. I'm 14 and always straighten my hair because my natural hair sooo curly and thick and coarse. Its also wayyy to poofy. If it wasn't I'd just side part it and go. Any tips on how to make it less poofy? Hairstyles without braids are appreciated to.
