How did you find out that you had PCOS?

What age were you diagnosed and how did you know or suspected you had it? What tests did you they do to confirm that? Can you still Concieve? 😔

Answer

There are a few ways you can tell something may be up, such as abnormal hair growth under the chin, long gaps between periods or more than one period in the month, higher than normal hormone levels, etc. If you're concerned, make an appointment and ask your OBGYN for a blood test and possibly an ultrasound for cysts.

I was 14, now 28 and still trying to conceive #1 after 3 years. My doc tested my hormones after having 2-3 menstrual cycles a year after I had my first at age 12. My testosterone was high, progesterone low, and glucose slightly high. Now my levels are normal without taking anything to correct them but from a couple of very trained experts I still have the signs of it. Mainly bc my body won't produce normal monthly cycles. So I'm taking 1500mg metformin daily as well as, monthly rounds of progesterone for a period & going to a PCOS specialist/gynecologist to track everything so I can hopefully get pregnant one day soon.

Diagnosed at 30 with a vaginal ultrasound. But I know I've had it for more than 10 years, I had irregular periods, excess facial/body hair, discoloration of skin, cystic acne. After I was diagnosed, it only took 4 months for me to get pregnant. I saw a reproductive endocrinologist and did an IUI, I'm now 6 months along.

I came off the pill just before I turned 25 and didn't get a period for 2.5 months. I didn't get my next one for another month and half and eventually my days just kept coming down. However, I couldn't pin point ovulation. So I googled. Sure enough it came up and I decided just to go to Drs and find out for sure. I was told at 25 and a half. It hit me fairly hard, actually. Anyway, I'm 26 in March, my last period was apparently 88 days ago. I've just had light on and off bleeding for a couple of days and I'm on day 4 of Metformin. 
I haven't been told I CAN'T conceive, just that it wouldn't be as easy as I thought.
