Was I being toxic for asking to check my boyfriends phone?

So my boyfriend 25 (I’m 22) we’ve been together 3 years. And almost 2 years ago I caught him cheating (full on sex with girls cheating) and I found out months later…. Well We ended up unexpectedly getting pregnant before I found out about it…so I stayed and suggested that every now and then a way for me to trust him again is to check his phone and come to me about befriending females.. He became offensive and said that’s personal and it’s toxic I can’t do that. But he’s allowed to ask me to check my phone.. I didn’t began doing this until after the cheating happened. Also he becomes very defensive if i tell him im uncomfortable with a female being on his social media..

I feel I need to leave but I’m not in a financial situation and happen to get pregnant again with a HR pregnancy (I know I’m dumb) but I just wanted to know if I was being toxic at all from this situation..
