Gestitional and induction

Bella

I have gestational diabetes and am currently taking 8 units of insulin every morning along with 2000 mg of metformin daily. I have weekly biophysical profile (BPP) and non-stress test (NST) monitoring. So far, my baby is doing well and is already engaged at 37 weeks.

My doctor wants to induce labor at 39 weeks and 2 days, but I’m considering asking to wait until my due date (40 weeks). If I don’t go into labor naturally by then, I would be open to induction at exactly 40 weeks. I don’t see the need for induction if my baby isn’t too big, isn’t in distress, and everything looks good in the monitoring. However, if any complications arise, I would absolutely follow medical advice.

I would love to hear from other moms who have given birth at 40 weeks with gestational diabetes. What were your experiences? Were you able to wait until your due date, or did you end up needing an induction earlier?
