Elderly neighbor and cats and super dirty living conditions and situation…

Our neighbor keep saying she is going to get help with cleaning and they have cats. Her place is really dirty :(( Her sister she lived with just had a massive stroke and can’t take care of the cats anymore

This neighbor asked for us, the neighbors to help do insulin (one of the cats is sickly and diabetic) and feed them. She clearly can’t do any of the cleaning and various neighbors have been cleaning and changing litter…

The step daughter js the only family but weird dynamic. She is listed on paperwork though to make decisions after the sisters

One sister in the hospital after massive stroke and the other that needed a ton of help before and dependent on now hospitalized sister is having a surgery…

I have asked the plan regarding the cats and she can’t answer it really… she says she has to think about her surgery.

What can we do as the neighbors? I’ve been in contact with the step daughter and she isn’t stepping in. These poor cats :( but I have a child with disabilities and all… full time job… I can’t take on this honestly

I’ve told her I can help through the weekend and that’s it. I have a lot of work next week which is true- 2 young kids. I said I would help bring them to the vet or another place also to board them. Honestly it’s really sad… especially the one cat will most likely be euthanized (it’s very skinny, glazed over eyes, not cleaning itself at all, diabetic) it’s such a sad situation

But if they don’t keep up with the cats or house- what can we do as the neighbors? Another older neighbor will do the feeding and insulin and clean next week but it just keeps getting passed around to the neighbors
