My husband and I are in NYC for 2 years due to his work. We found out we’re pregnant Tuesday and we’ve been searching for an ob since. It’s our first pregnancy and we’re search for a black ob and it’s like “how do we pick?” ? Who’s going to listen and truly care?

I’m going to be totally honest, my first pregnancy I had midwifery care, my second pregnancy I toyed with the idea of finding an OB, but I live in a city and I got very overwhelmed trying to figure out who delivers at the hospital I would’ve wanted to deliver at, who would align with my goals for a VBAC, and I ended up back with midwifery care. Personally, I like the midwifery model and a decent amount of midwives will offer prenatal care only so you can have a hospital birth if you so decide. Just something to consider!

Sis just go to the hospital, if they confirm that you’re pregnant, they will make sure you get one , than you can tell them how you want your OBLIGATORY male or female, but the black or white is what I can tell because it’s doesn’t matter.for me the only thing that’s matters to me is the male or female, because I’m a Muslim with hijab 🧕,so I have to make a choices so choose female and in my case the color doesn’t matter to me.congratulations and good luck

If I were you, I’d join a black moms group if you can find one on social media, and I would ask for recommendations. Search ‘black moms NYC’ on Facebook and they come up. You could also check findablackdoctor.com I only see 4 for NYC but if you put your zip it’s probably going to show more. This app is overwhelmingly conservative yt trad wives. Not only will they not have any advice, they also won’t understand why you would need a black doctor for your safety. Good luck!
