Has anyone been prescribed FERROUS SULFATE??

I was recently prescribed ferrous sulfate  2 times a week because my ferritin is low, but it makes me so sick. The first time I took it I took it on an empty stomach as instructed but 10 mins later I threw up then today I took it 2 hours after dinner but omg I feel so nauseous and sick. Is it normal to feel sick after the pill & do the side effects get better? Or should I tell my ob to prescribe me something else?

I took it daily with 2 of my pregnancies. I was nauseous constantly anyway, so idk if it made it worse or not. I took it at bedtime, though. Might try that?

Same thing here I didn’t take it because of that and also hated the after taste it made everything I ate taste like rubber.. because I didn’t take it I had to get blood infusion because my iron was still low

I take an over the counter version, I don’t get sick, but can get constipated. I take it just before bed. There are multiple formulations though, some of which are gentler, so I would ask your doctor if there is an alternative you can try instead.

I stopped taking it for the same reasons, I just ended up taking two sachets of Spatone a day instead. Best to get advice from your dr before doing this.

In general i felt sick after taking any pills.. i've recently been prescribed it too with my third pregnancy.. i've been adviced i can take the tablet with food but can't be eggs.. caffine.. because it was upsetting my stomach.

I was prescribed ferrous fumerate for anaemia at the beginning of my pregnancy and took it everyday until the end. I never had any side effects from it. So definitely mention it as there is other alternatives of the medication that may be better for you!
